École de l'infanterie

In October 1951, it was moved again to Saint-Maixent, and opened to non-commissioned officer promoting to officer, to élèves-officiers de réserve, and to non-commissioned officers in active service.

Hisham Jaber

After graduating from the military academy, he was sent to the French postgraduate école d'application, in Saint-Maixent-l'École, for specialized infantry training.

Hugh V of Lusignan

He and his brother Rorgo confirmed charters for the abbeys of Saint-Maixent and Saint-Cyprien and that of Nouaillé.

Leodegar

In or about 650, after he became a priest, and with the bishop's recommendation, Leodegar was made abbot of the monastery of St Maxentius in Poitou.


Conwoïon

He succeeded in the foundation of a new abbey dedicated to Saint Maixent in the present village of Saint-Maxent, now in the commune of Plélan-le-Grand, where he died in 868.
