Internal conflicts between the Sikh communities plagued the temple's congregation, which was later divided into three factions from different areas of Central Punjab, namely the Majha, Malwa and Doabha.
Majha is a historical region of the Punjab comprising the modern districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran in the Indian State of Punjab and the districts of Lahore and Kasur in the Pakistani province of Punjab.
He was one of the three Chaudharys of Majha of Patti Parganah during the rule of Akbar, a liberal and secular Mughal ruler from 1556-1605.
