The school's address is 1 Zubir Said Drive, named after the composer of the national anthem, Zubir Said.
The committee that created it, headed by then Deputy Prime Minister Toh Chin Chye, was also responsible for the national flag and the national anthem of Singapore.

At the centre of the emblem is a red shield bearing a white crescent (a new moon, representing a rising young nation) and five white stars (representing various national ideals including multiculturalism), supported by a lion and a tiger (representing Singapore and Malaysia respectively); below them is a blue ribbon inscribed with Majulah Singapura in gold, Malay for "Onward Singapore".
Vasantham starts up at 3:00 pm on weekdays, 1:00pm on weekends, between 6:00am and 10:00am on public holidays and resign-on when 24 hours during Deepavali and the night before the Indian holidays with national anthem being played, main theme and station ident.
