Growing up, Albrecht was listening to a lot of different musical genre : soul, R&B, Funk, Pop, Brazilian music (MPB, Bossa-Nova) and African music such as Makossa, Marabentta or Congolese Rumba.
Makossa, a popular musical style in West and Central Africa, originated with the Duala around this same time.

The song "Soul Makossa", as well as pop songs that repeated its lyrics, internationally popularized the Duala word for "(I) dance", "makossa".
Makossa singer Lapiro de Mbanga referenced the prison in a popular 2007 anti-corruption song, with lyrics including "Send them to Kondengui Prison. Everybody to Kondengui... ministers, directors send them to Kondengui".
