He received his early education at the Malay School of Bukit Belimbing (1946–1950) before furthering his studies at Klang High School (1951–1957), Malay College Kuala Kangsar (1958–1959) and University of Hull, England (1960–1963 and 1971–1973).
Having obtained his education from the Malacca High School and the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, he joined with the British, as well as with the Sultans of Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang to form a federation, dubbed the Federated Malay States, on July 1, 1896, the nucleus around which the present-day Malaysia was eventually created.

Only a few courts exist outside Britain, most notably at Geelong Grammar School in Australia (the school is often referred to as the 'Eton of Australia'); there are also courts in Geneva, Zurich, Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz, Switzerland, St. Paul's School, Darjeeling, India and Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia, and two brand new courts have recently been completed in the South of France, in the village of Grillon, Provence.
The school has been competitive in the Young Entrepreneurs Program, and it won several national awards in 2002 and 2005, defeating other schools in Malaysia, two of which are MCKK and Victoria Institution.
A senior news anchor and experienced media strategist, he was born in the historical city of Melaka and attended the prestigious Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
