The deal struck in 2007 was part of a policy shift by then Nigerien president Mamadou Tandja to break the four decade de facto monopoly held by Areva, a French state owned nuclear company, by bringing in Sino-U as a competitor.

Salifou Fatimata Bazeye

In 2009, she led the court in two unanimous decisions opposing President of Niger Mamadou Tandja's move to hold a referendum to retire the Constitution of Niger and remain in office while a new constitution was drafted.
