Bonginkosi Madikizela

After Skwatsha won the battle, Madikizela and some of Rasool's supporters in Khayelitsha claimed that they were marginalised, and later excluded as possible ANC candidates for the local government elections in 2006.

Mr Madikizela has been embroiled in a number of controversies surrounding housing developments in Mandela Park, Khayelitsha.

Madikizela, originally from the Eastern Cape had been a member of the ANC, and became prominent in 2005 when he led a group of disaffected ANC members in Makhaza, Khayelitsha who had been supportive of former Western Cape Premier, and ANC provincial chairman Ebrahim Rasool in his leadership battle with Mcebisi Skwatsha.

Cecil Lolo

Khayelitsha-born Cecil Lolo made his professional debut for Ajax Cape Town on 27 August 2010 in a 2-0 win against Bloemfontein Celtic, at the Cape Town Stadium.

Helen Zille

In addition to maintaining existing water and electricity subsidies, Zille also raised the subsidies on the indigent database, and ensured that electricity was supplied to informal settlements that Eskom refused to electrify, such as Happy Valley and Site B Khayelitsha.

Matthias Rath

In 2005, according to Reuters, Rath's foundation distributed tens of thousands of pamphlets in poor black South African townships, such as Khayelitsha, claiming that HIV medication was "poison" and urging HIV-positive people instead to use vitamins such as those Rath sells to treat HIV/AIDS.

Mutual railway station

Mutual is a particularly busy station because it is the junction at which the Central Line towards Mitchell's Plain and Khayelitsha diverges from the Northern Line main line to Bellville.

Pinelands railway station

Central Line trains travel from Cape Town through Pinelands and Langa to Mitchell's Plain, Khayelitsha and Bellville.
