Famous past residents in the area include Kai Johansen, of Rangers FC and Chris Johnstone, famously named and shamed by The Sun, although now exiled to the Far East amid controversy and speculation.
The Findlater Sisters, Jane Findlater (1866–1946), and Mary Findlater (1865–1963), were daughters of the Free Kirk Manse, and grew up in what is now the Mansewood Hotel.
