unusual facts about March Engineering


KW Motorsport Ltd

The Company is based alongside its sister company KW Special Projects Ltd at Reynard Park, Brackley, England, where it is currently working on the adaptation and regeneration of MARCH Engineering’s iconic Le Mans prototype, the MARCH 75S.


Can-Am

Well-established European manufacturers like Ferrari and BRM appeared at various times with little success, March tried to get a share of the lucrative market in 1970-1 but couldn't establish themselves, and Ford flitted across the scene with a number of unsuccessful cars based on the GT40 and its successors.

Ferrari 512

Starting the season, former Ferrari work's driver Pedro Rodríguez had been lost to Porsche's JWA Gulf Racing of John Wyer, and to BRM in F1, while another former work's racer, Chris Amon was now involved in F1 with March, just like Mario Andretti.

Gustav Brunner

When the team folded at the end of the 1989 season, he moved on to Leyton House, staying as they reverted to March Engineering - during this period, he is perhaps best remembered for vaulting the pitlane wall and running on to the track when Ivan Capelli finished 2nd in the 1990 French Grand Prix.

However this team was to break up suddenly in 1969 with some of the core personnel (including Alan Rees) forming March Engineering.

Peter Gethin

As other drivers fell by the wayside in the race, however, Gethin climbed consistently up the order, and was running as high as 8th before he was passed by Ignazio Giunti's Ferrari and Jo Siffert's March late on, but it was his first grand prix finish as he came home 10th.

RAM Racing

The combination stayed together for 1982, landing backing from Rothmans, and the new March 821 saw design work from a young Adrian Reynard.

Gustav Brunner

With March Engineering folding, he moved to Minardi for 1993, designing their successful M193 chassis, before another switch, to Ferrari's Research & Development department, eventually returning to Minardi as chief designer in 1997 to help new technical director, Gabriele Tredozi, and became the technical director in 1999.
