The name of this section comes from the fact that each way of the expressway runs near a different waterfront of the Pinheiros River.
After Frias' death, the São Paulo city hall gave his name to a bypass connecting Jornalista Roberto Marinho avenue to the Pinheiros expressway, in Southern São Paulo.
