Franz Ernst Brückmann (September 27, 1697 – March 21, 1753) was a German mineralogist born at Marienthal near Helmstedt.
The main dams for largemouth bass fishing are the Hardap Dam in Mariental, Von Bach Dam in Okahandja, Avis Dam in Windhoek and Oanob Dam in Rehoboth.

The only settlements are the Helmstedt hamlet of Bad Helmstedt and the Harbke sector of Autobahn in the south, and the installations of the old airbase of Mariental in the north.
