In opposition, two of her former targets for prosecution, Tommy Chong and Cyril Wecht, appeared together at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Hall in Pittsburgh for a comic fundraiser for the Alleghany County Democratic Committee.

The investigation resulted in 55 individuals being charged, most notably comedian and actor Tommy Chong, who was charged for his role in the financing and promoting of Chong Glass/Nice Dreams, a company started by his son, Paris Chong.
Mary Beth Buchanan also oversaw Operation Pipe Dream which targeted companies that sold water bongs and pipes.

Although the raids were not in the Western District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Mary Beth Buchanan, is overseeing the operation.
