After Wallenstein's death (1634) most of the duchy was given to Count Matthias Gallas and its independent status was annulled.
In 1636 Sadová was part of the Smiřice lordship acquired by the Imperial General Lieutenant Matthias Gallas, who thereby reaped the awards for his conspiration against Generalissimo Albrecht von Wallenstein.

The siege lasted until July 1630, when the city, already struck by a plague, was brutally put to the sack for three days and three nights by troops led by Count Aldringen and Gallas.
