Roger McGuinn (born 1942), American singer-songwriter and guitarist
The album, produced by Mick Ronson, was recorded on the heels of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue 1975 tour, in which both McGuinn and Ronson had participated.
The album's front cover made use of a David Gahr photograph featuring the last line-up of The Byrds to be represented on the album: Roger McGuinn, Skip Battin, Gene Parsons, and Clarence White.
#"Amazing Grace" (traditional, arranged Roger McGuinn, Clarence White, Gene Parsons, Skip Battin)
Initially, McGuinn's debut single was to have been "That's a Plan," but after a disc jockey at KPLX in Texas began playing "Mrs. Steven Rudy," that song became his debut single instead.
McGuinn's guitar work on the track would later be championed by The Beatles' George Harrison, who latter took influence from the main riff of "The Bells of Rhymney" with the drumming from "She Don't Care About Time" on Harrison's own composition, "If I Needed Someone".
Following the success of his 1976 album Cardiff Rose, McGuinn intended to make another album in collaboration with its producer Mick Ronson.
Electric Rickenbacker 12-string users include a range of jangle pop guitarists, ranging from McGuinn (The Byrds), Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys, George Harrison and John Lennon (The Beatles), John McNally (The Searchers) and Peter Buck (R.E.M.) to Les Fradkin and Johnny Marr (The Smiths).
