The Church’s beginnings are linked to the ministry of Pastor James McKeown(1900-1989), an Irish missionary sent by the Apostolic Church, Bradford, UK to the then Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1937 to help a group of believers of the Apostolic Faith in Asamankese.

In June 1937, Rev. James McKeown was seriously ill by malaria and was kept in his room at Asamankese for some days without medication in accordance with the rules, belief and practice of the Apostolic Faith.
In 2009, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, an arm of the Smithsonian Institution, America's national museum, released "Irish Pirate Ballads and Other Songs of the Sea," which features many of Irish America's foremost musicians and singers, including John Doyle, Joanie Madden, Susan McKeown, Mick Moloney, Brian Conway, Gabriel Donohue and Robbie O'Connell.
Riding Collier Hill, McKeown won a number of major international races, including the 2005 Group 2 Gerling-Preis in Cologne, Germany, the C$2 million Grade 1 Canadian International at Woodbine Racetrack in Canada, and the HK$14 million Hong Kong Vase in Hong Kong, China.
The outstanding band, under the direction of Billy "Rip" Reagan, his son Steve Reagan, Boyd McKeown, Pat Morrow, Russ Waits and others (all former ESHS band members themselves) played for many events such as the Mardi Gras, New Orleans Saints football games as well as performing at the Viking football games, and events at the Talladega Superspeedway race track and many other national events.

The competition was judged by Brookside co-creator Colin McKeown and Jimmy McGovern, which resulted in Deane being given further opportunities to write on projects under McGovern's tutelage through McKeown's company LA Productions based at Liverpool Film Academy in Kirkdale, Liverpool.
