Established in May 1923, Meherabad was the first permanent residence of Meher Baba and his disciples in Ahmednagar district.
It is flown each year near his samadhi (tomb-shrine) in Meherabad, India during the week of Amartithi (the anniversary of his death on January 31, 1969).
The 17 murals that he and his wife Phyllis painted in 1975 can be seen on permanent exhibit in the Meher Pilgrim Center in Meherabad, near Ahmednagar, India.
Mehera met Meher Baba for the first time on October 15, 1922 at the age of 14 in the Sakori ashram of Upasni Maharaj during a visit with her mother, but did not come to stay with Baba permanently at Meherabad until 1924.
