His Highness The Mehtar of Chitral's Own Bodyguard or informally The Chitral Bodyguard or Mehtar's Bodyguard was a military force under the direct command of the Mehtar of Chitral,a princely state of Pakistan and British India until 1969.
In 1888, the Mehtar of Chitral annexed the valley, and it remained under the rule of the Katoor Dynasty until 1895.
On the Chitral side of Lowari Top are the people of Ashret, who speak the Phalura language and were assigned by the Mehtar of Chitral to be the guardians of Lowari Top.
The Rajas of Yasin were great warriors and fought against the Sikhs and the Dogras of Kashmir, but this house eventually lost power and the ownership of Yasin changed hands several times between the Mehtar of Chitral, and the Maharaja of Kashmir.

Two of the more famous saints are Hazrat Maulana Nizamuddin Bajouri, an Afghan Pashtun from Bajour, who lived and died in Tadkeshwar in the 19th century; and his disciple Hazrat Shaikh Moosaji Mehtar.
