Andrew Meikle, the Scots engineer, inventor of the Threshing machine
The former terminus at Meikle Ferry on the southern side of the Dornoch Firth is today the Dornoch Bridge Inn.
Meikle is a Scots word for large/big, so one could assume that Meikle Loch would be one of the bigger Lochs in Scotland.
Robert Desmond Meikle (born 18 May 1923 in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish botanist from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Creature Feature (with Guy N. Smith and William Meikle), Ghostwriter Publications, 2009.
