The center of this decoration is a niche with an image of the Virgin of Mercy, who shelters Mercedarian founder Pedro Nolasco and other saints with her cloak.
Romaguera was born in Barcelona during the Catalan Revolt (Guerra dels Segadors) against Castile in 1642 and lived until 1723, according to the epitaph of him published in the manuscript Historia EclesiƔstica del principado de CataluƱa by the Mercedarian historian Pere Serra i Postius.
Aparicio was born in San Pedro de Lloc, Pacasmayo, and later entered the Mercedarian friars.
