Michelle Engelsman

Michelle Engelsman (born December 9, 1979 in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina) is a retired Australian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events.

Born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina, Engelsman moved her family back to Australia at the very age, before they decided to settle in upstate New York, when she was seven years old.

Upon her untimely return to Australia, she continued her studies at the University of Queensland, and trained with Scott Volkers and Stephen Widman for her rigorous preparation at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

She started her swimming career upon her admission at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and eventually won the title in the 50 m freestyle at the 1998 NCAA Division 3 State Swimming Championships.
