3 unusual facts about Mikael Granlund

Mikael Granlund

After Granlund's "lacrosse-style" goal at the 2011 IIHF World Championship semifinal versus Russia, Finnish Hockey Mafia released the single "Taivas varjele!" featuring sampled comments by Finnish sports broadcaster Antero Mertaranta.

Granlund was second in playoff scoring (5-11–16), behind team-mate Juha-Pekka Haataja (8-8--16).

Using the Mike Legg Michigan style scoop in a full-speed variation, Granlund scored a lacrosse style highlight reel goal in the semifinal game versus Russia, helping Finland win gold.

Ville Peltonen

Peltonen was chosen to the All-Star lineup and HIFK won the Kanada-malja championship for first time since 1998 as Peltonen, Mikael Granlund and Juha-Pekka Haataja led the team to the championship.
