CUJO has performed in numerous professional venues in the UK on national tours including the Bull's Head in Barnes, won gold awards in UK-wide big band competitions and has collaborated with world-famous musicians, composers and arrangers such as Laurence Cottle (2013), Stan Sulzmann (2012), Steve Waterman (2010), Issie Barratt and Mike Gibbs (2009), and Mark Nightingale (2007).
The band is co-directed by Mark Donlon and Issie Barratt and has performed world premieres of works by leading jazz composers such as Issie Barratt, Matt Bourne, Kenny Wheeler, Mark Donlon, Julian Joseph, Bob Mintzer, Mike Gibbs and Tim Garland.
On his return to Britain he founded the first version of an ensemble devoted to his own compositions, Graham Collier Music, which included Kenny Wheeler, Harry Beckett and John Surman, and in later line-ups Karl Jenkins, Mike Gibbs, Art Themen and many other notable musicians.
Argüelles has worked with musicians drawn from around the world including Archie Shepp, Tim Berne, Hermeto Pascoal, Steve Swallow, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, Peter Erskine, Chris McGregor, Evan Parker, Mike Gibbs, John Scofield, Carla Bley, Dudu Pukwana, Arturo Sandoval, and Giorgio Gaslini.
While living in London Ken Stubbs also played and recorded with Mike Walker, Jeremy Stacey, Gary Husband, Peter Erskine, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Phil Robson, Orlando Le Flemming, Mike Gibbs Orchestra and Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath.
Guests on the album include drummer Pete Cater, guitarist John Etheridge (formerly of Soft Machine), arranger and trombonist Mike Gibbs (who has worked with Jan Akkerman, Peter Gabriel, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Jaco Pastorius), saxophonist John Helliwell (Supertramp), cellist Hugh McDowell (formerly of Electric Light Orchestra), and flautist Rowland Sutherland.
Roger Bellon earned his Bachelor Of Music Composition degree from the Berklee College of Music, studying under music legends Gary Burton, Mike Gibbs and Herb Pomeroy among others and completed postgraduate studies in Composition and Conducting, under Pierre Petit (Grand Prix De Rome) at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, Paris.
