A member of the Labour Party for 33 years, he is very critical of Ed Miliband, out of a fear that Miliband could lead to the Labour party to the left or continue with Gordon Brown's policies.
While at Corpus (later the college of David and Ed Miliband), he was features editor of Isis, the student magazine, and a member of the Oxford University Broadcasting Society, also acting in numerous plays and revues, and co-directing Molière's The Miser with Peter Grose.
In October 2012, at the UK Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham, Foreign Secretary William Hague made a response to a speech that Labour leader Ed Miliband had given at his own party conference in the previous week, in which Miliband compared his party with Benjamin Disraeli's One Nation Conservatism ideology.
