Dave Bolland

Born in 1986 in Mimico, a neighbourhood of Etobicoke, Ontario at the time, Bolland started playing hockey at the local arena, Mimico Arena, where he played for the Queensway Canadiens, then playing minor hockey for the Toronto Red Wings in the Greater Toronto Hockey League from 2000 until 2002.


Islington-City Centre West

In 1860, the original northern Mimico petitioned for its own post office, using the name Islington, which was suggested by the wife of Montgomery's Innkeeper who was born in Islington, England (now a part of London).

New Toronto

Recent attempts to rejuvenate New Toronto include the protection of remaining industrial lands (for employment) and the old Mimico Lunatic Asylum buildings and grounds with the expansion of Humber College's Lake Shore campus and the Lakeshore Grounds, as well as the construction of the new Lakeshore Lions Arena on the former W & A Gilbey distillery site.

York County, Ontario

Three Lakeshore communities later developed into separate municipalities: Mimico (1911 Village/1917 Town), New Toronto (1913 Village/1920 Town), Long Branch (1930 Village).
