Directorate General of Shipping

The directorate, subordinate to the Ministry of Shipping, is located in Mumbai and led by Director General of Shipping Dr. Agnihotri.

Esplen baronets

He was a Senior Director of Esplen, Sons and Swainston, consulting engineers and naval architects, and served as Chief Technical Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping during the First World War.

Graeme Thomson

In 1917, the Directorate of Shipping for the Ministry of Shipping and Admiralty was created and Thomson was placed in charge of it.

Percy Bates

On the outbreak of the First World War Bates joined the Transport Department of the Admiralty, and later became Director of Commercial Services of the new Ministry of Shipping, responsible for the shipment of civilian supplies.
