Atlantic Transport Line

A full-scale regular passenger service to New York commenced in 1892 and today the line is best known for its first class only direct London to New York passenger/cargo service operated by its four Minne class ships, SS Minneapolis, SS Minnehaha, SS Minnetonka and SS Minnewaska from 1900 to 1915.

Minnewaska Area High School

The Minnewaska Area School District #2149 was consolidated in 1993 from three Pope County districts: Glenwood/Lowry, Starbuck, and Villard.

Minnewaska State Park Preserve

The Minnewaska State Park Preserve is a 21,106 acre (8,541 ha) preserve located on the Shawangunk Ridge in Ulster County, New York on US 44/NY 55, five miles (8 km) east of New York State Route 299.

Souda Bay

In 1916 the British liner SS Minnewaska, requisitioned by the British Army as a troops carrier, struck a mine and was beached at Souda Bay.

Thomasites

The name Thomasite was derived from the transport vessel USAT Thomas (earlier known as SS Minnewaska in private service), which brought the educators to the shores of Manila Bay.
