Avraham Kalmanowitz

He was born in the town of Delyatitz, Minsk province, Belarus, to Rabbi Aharon Aryeh Leib and Maita Kalmanowitz.

Eugene Rozhitsky

On February 21, 1927 Rozhistsky was appointed rector of the Uniate parish in Kostomlotah, but soon returned to the Orthodox Church and as Orthodox priest ministered in Vilnius in the Izha village (now Vileyka Raion, in the Minsk Region).

Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church

The church is known locally as "The Russian Church" because it was built in 1915 by Russian immigrants who were mostly from the provinces of Grodno, Volyn, and Minsk in modern-day Belarus and Ukraine.

Minsk Offensive

The largest group of encircled forces comprised the divisions of XII Corps, which remained relatively intact, along with those elements of XXVII Corps that had successfully retreated from Orsha and which were now trapped near Pekalin (in Smalyavichy Raion, Minsk Region).
