Scurry was named the National Goalkeeper of the Year in 1993 by the Missouri Athletic Club Sports Foundation and was a 1993 second-team All-American, All-Northeast Region and All-New England first-team selection.
He was named first team All-ACC all four of his years, was a three-time finalist for the Hermann Award, and as a senior was awarded the Hermann Trophy by the Missouri Athletic Club, marking him as the nation's top college player.
He played college soccer at Virginia Tech and Liberty University, where he was named a member of the All-Big South First Team in 2007, and honored as the Big South Player of the Year and was named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List for the best player in the NCAA in 2008, He was also an All American player.
He made an appearance and gave a speech at the St. Louis Browns Reunion dinner held at the Missouri Athletic Club on June 8, 2006 in St. Louis, Missouri.
That year he earned first team All American honors and the Missouri Athletic Club named him as the Hermann Trophy player of the year.
