He married Huguette Oligny in 1973 and is the grandfather of actress and pop singer Mitsou Gélinas.
French Canadian pop star Mitsou covered the song as the title track for a 1992 EP and also released it as a single.
Jean-Pierre Isaac has written and/or produced music for many artists, notably the French Gilbert Montagné, Quebec’s Mitsou, Les BB, Celine Dion, Cindy Daniel, Marie Carmen, Mario Pelchat, Judith Berard, Scripture (his solo project featured on "Cafe del Mar", and released album No Word Needed), and many more.
In 1988, she signed with Canadian independent Isba Records and released her first single, "Bye Bye Mon Cowboy" (composed and produced by Jean-Pierre Isaac), which became a smash pop hit across Canada (an extremely rare feat for a francophone song).
