Mogaveeras were the first people from South Canara/Udupi to visit Bombay and the coasts of Gujarat & Saurastra in the north and Colombo in the South.
Hindus in Mulki are very diverse in themselves with a significant population of Billavas, Bunts,(Mogaveera) Vokkaligas, Konkanis and Brahmins.
Besides the Brahmins there were other non-Brahmin castes, such as the Mogaveera, Bunts, Billavas, the artisan castes, Holeyas and Mahars, the hill-tribes (Koragas).
