Brachetto d'Acqui

While the Brachetto grape is believed to be native to Piedmont (with the Monferrato hills and the area around Asti being the most likely home of the grape), some ampelographers have speculated as early as the late 19th century that the grape might actually be French in origin.

Cerrina Monferrato

In 2005 Cerrina was the epicentre of swarms of locusts or grasshoppers (the local Calliptamus italicus) which, unprecedented in their magnitude and moving at speeds of up to 55 km/h, threatened the vineyards of Monferrato and the province of Asti.
