Pace's first graduating class created the first newspaper, called the Kerygma ("The Proclamation") as well as the first Torch yearbook, which acquired its name from president John F. Kennedy's inauguration speech, in which he referred to passing the "torch" to the next generation.

Pazienza attended elementary school at Atlantic Christian School in Hialeah, Florida, was enrolled for the 8th grade at Dade Christian School, a strict Baptist academy, and ultimately attended high school at Monsignor Edward Pace High School in the Miami suburb of Opa-locka, Florida.
Marrero and current teammate Gio Gonzalez briefly played together during their high school years at Monsignor Edward Pace High School when Gonzalez transferred there in 2004.
