Monumenta Historica Societatis Iesu, a collection of writings on the origin and early years of the Society of Jesus
A team of experts was appointed and a first volume of the MHSI was published in Madrid in 1894.
His work laid the foundation for a tradition of historical and bibliographical scholarship exemplified in the Bollandist scholars, Nathaniel Bacon's Bibibliotheca scriptorum Societatis Iesu, the histories of Daniello Bartoli and other landmarks of Jesuit historiography, such as the Monumenta Historica Societatis Iesu.
The Monumenta Historica Societatis Iesu (MHSI) are critical editions of primary sources from the first centuries of the Society of Jesus’ history.
