unusual facts about Moses of Chorene

Aristo of Pella

A secondary mention by the Armenian chronicler Moses of Chorene is probably based on Eusebius, but expanded with the comments that he was secretary of "Ardasches", which were read, or misread, to suggest that Aristo was secretary of Mark, first Gentile bishop of Jerusalem.

Gregory the Illuminator

The original authorities for Gregory's life are Agathangelos, whose History of Tiridates was published by the Mekhitarists in 1835; Moses of Chorene, Historiae Armenicae; and Symeon the Metaphrast.

Mikayel Chamchian

Chamchian provided a chronology for the Armenian patriarchs (as laid down by Movses Khorenatsi in his History of Armenia), dating Haik's battle with Belus, and thus the formation of the Armenian people, to August 11, 2492 BC.

Zareh

Zareh is an Armenian given name, derived from a legendary king mentioned in chapter 1.31 of the History of Armenia.
