His book To Your Country, To Your Homeland served as a basis for Moti Kirschenbaum's documentary series To the Water Wells, which portrayed a meeting between two patriots in disagreement — Kenan and Naomi Shemer.
Among the special committee members there were members of sports men, sport broadcasters, sports writers and culture officials, including: Guy Cohen, Jeremy Weitz, Moti Kirschenbaum, Yoram Arbel, Gavri Levi, Avi Meller, Shlomi Barzel, Dani Dvorin, Amir Efrat, Zuhir Bahlul, and more.
In 1976, Kirschenbaum was awarded the Israel Prize in the "art of radio, television and cinema", primarily in recognition of his television.
