A majority of the buses in the fleet are single-level D4500 coach buses built by MCI, which can seat 57 people.
On April 25, 2012, MCI announced a minority stake with Daimler AG to produce Setra buses for the North American market as Daimler reconfigured its bus operations in North America and exited the commercial bus market there.

MCII and its subsidiaries are now wholly owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP.

After various changes of structure and ownership, the business is now owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP; in September 2010 they completed a controlling investment, through an affiliate, in MCII Holdings Inc., the parent company of MCII.
Like its parent company, Vermont Transit Lines operated similar equipment with most buses in its fleet supplied by Motor Coach Industries, and some by the Belgian coach builder Van Hool.

The sales and closures are part of the closure of Daimler Buses North America; only Daimler's imported Setra buses will continue to be marketed although North American distribution will be taken over by Motor Coach Industries (MCI).
