Egelner Mulde is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
It is dominated by the forested hill ranges of the Elm, Lappwald and Dorm as well as the region known as the Helmstedt Bowl (Helmstedter Mulde).
Holzdorf Air Base was utilised as hub for all aerial rescue and support operations at the rivers Elbe, Saale, Mulde, Black Elster and White Elster as well as near Bitterfeld and in Fischbeck.
The village, which is 1.5 kilometres northwest of the Gottesgaber Spitzberg mountain on the River Schwarzwasser between Gottesgab and Seifen is surrounded by high forest and was formerly a popular summer retreat and winter sports resort.
Although only one of the colonists is recorded as coming from the small parish of Seelitz, which is near Niederfrohna in the Mulde valley, Bürger may have chosen it out of filial piety and the memory of his own first pastorate, rather than Lunzenau, from which he and most of his people had actually come.
