The 2008 Munster Senior Hurling Championship was an annual hurling competition played between the 1 June and the 13 July in 2008 between five hurling counties from the provence of Munster.

Tipperary claimed their first Munster Senior Hurling title since 2001 and 37th title overall as they overcame Clare by a score of 2-21 to 0-19.
That year he won his first Munster winners' medal following a provincial final defeat of Limerick.
During his inter-county career he won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal.
Burke first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork team that won a second consecutive Munster title in 1927 with a 5-3 to 3-4 victory over Clare.
He first tasted success in 1946 when he captured his first Munster title.
After a period in the wilderness the Cork team bounced back in 1952 with Griffin capturing a Munster winners' medal following a defeat of three-in-a-row All-Ireland champions Tipperary in the provincial decider.
