With two clubs from Edinburgh qualifying for the final, some City of Edinburgh Council members called for the match to be played at Murrayfield Stadium instead of Hampden Park, the traditional venue for Scottish Cup Finals.

Because both teams were from Edinburgh, many of the city councillors requested that the final be held in Edinburgh at Murrayfield Stadium, instead of the traditional venue of Hampden, in Glasgow.
It is known mostly for containing Murrayfield Stadium, home to the Scottish national rugby union team and venue for many sporting events.

Whiteley made his international debut on 21 March 1931 at Murrayfield in the Scotland vs England match.
He won his first England cap as a replacement against France in the 2002 Six Nations Championship, but has only managed to win a handful of caps since then, mostly during the 2004 Six Nations Championship, coming off the bench in Rome and at Murrayfield.
He stood out as an extreme powerhouse as he scored two tries against Scotland at Murrayfield and kept on impressing against Italy and Wales.
