Its early contributors included prominent personalities in Malayalam literature such as MT Vasudevan Nair, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, N. P. Mohammed, C. Radhakrishnan and artists such as BM Gafoor, Yesudasan, Paul Kallanode and Venu.
After taking his master's in Business Administration from Syracuse University he returned to Kerala and joined the Calicut branch of Pierse Leslie India Ltd. as manager and settled down in Calicut, where he spent the rest of his life as part of the celebrated 'Kozhikode Cultural Circle' which included people like Vaikom Muhammed Basheer, M.T.Vasudevan Nair, Thikkodiyan, V. K. N., G. Aravindan, N. P. Mohammed, M. V. Devan etc.
He started his violin making studies at the School of Violin Making at the Conservatory of Music in Parma under Amina J. Mohammed.
In 2011 the Malayalam film Veeraputhran, based on N.P. Mohammed's book Mohammed Abdurahiman Oru Novel, was released.
