More recently, his first graphic novel North Country, a 96-page full-color memoir published by NBM Publishing, reveals the hard-scrabble life of living in a blue-collar mill town in upstate New York.
In the spring of 2005 NBM lunched its new imprint, Papercutz, with the publication of two three part comic book series; Nancy Drew The Demon of River Heights and The Hardy Boys The Ocean of Osyria.

Holtz is also a contributor to NBM's Forever Nuts: Classic Screwball Strips series, writing biographical introductions for the volumes on Frederick Opper and Bud Fisher, and creating annotations for Bringing Up Father and other strips reprinted in this series.
They were published, as The Most Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, first by Dark Horse Comics in their Cheval noir title and then released in book form by NBM Publishing (1990–1992).
