At the age of 15 Kalb formed the band Gay Notes, and 1961 performed with Bob Dylan on a WBAI-FM concert broadcast.
De Kalb was the birthplace of Bonanza star Dan Blocker, who played the character "Hoss Cartwright" on the popular NBC television Western.
Dispensing with second guitarist Danny Kalb, Ochs performs alone on twelve original songs, an interpretation of Alfred Noyes' "The Highwayman" set to music (much as Poe's "The Bells" had been set to music on the previous album) and a cover of Ewan MacColl's "The Ballad of the Carpenter".
KALB began broadcasting on September 29, 1954 with NBC's airing of the 1954 World Series.
This marked Media General's return to Louisiana after selling Alexandria NBC affiliate KALB to Hoak Media in 2006.
Other sectors are more commonly known by the origins of the families living there: e.g. the "Maghrebi" area where families originally from Algeria, Tunisia or Morocco who had moved to Palestine in the 1930s now live.
