On 30 August 2007, Arctic Sunrise was involved in a protest against the Canadian laker Algomarine off of Nanticoke, Ontario where she was attempting to enter harbor with a load of coal for the power station.

The former connects Interstate 81 in the southeast with Route 11 in West Nanticoke, while the latter two connect Wilkes-Barre and Nanticoke.
It is located in the Wyoming Valley between Wilkes-Barre and Nanticoke on the south side of the Sans Souci Parkway, which is a main thoroughfare connecting the two cities and is locally pronounced "San Suey." Hanover Township Area Jr/Sr High School is located in Korn Krest on the former site of Sans Souci Park, an amusement park that closed in 1970 and was first named Hanover Park from 1893 to 1905.

Just east of West Nanticoke, Route 29 becomes the South Cross Valley Expressway, crossing the Susquehanna River and leading to Interstate 81 south of Wilkes-Barre.
The station's signal is best heard within inner Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre, Kingston, Swoyersville), but can also be listened-to in outer Luzerne County (Pittston, Nanticoke, Dallas).
