While competing in the United States with the National Wrestling Alliance, Steele defeated Naoya Ogawa in a three way match with Brian Anthony in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 25, 1999 to become one of the youngest wrestlers to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship although he lost the title back to Ogawa one week later in Thomaston, Connecticut on October 2.
In June 2005, Iwasa recorded a duet with Naoya Ogawa called "Katte ni Shinryakusha" (An Invader in My Own Way), which was used as an ending song of Sgt. Frog.
The event included the finals of the Pride Welterweight and Lightwent tournaments that began at Pride Bushido 9, a rematch between Wanderlei Silva and Ricardo Arona for the Pride Middleweight Championship, and a main event between Olympic judokas Naoya Ogawa and Hidehiko Yoshida.
