2 unusual facts about Narodnaya Volya


Mariinskaya Gymnasium

Among the students were such eminent people as the People's Artist of the USSR Faina Ranevskaya, artist Seraphima Blonskaya, poets Sophia Parnok and Yelizaveta Tarakhovskaya, an active member of Narodnaya Volya organization Nadezhda Sigida (Malaksiano), Anton Chekhov’s sister Maria.

Yuri Bogdanovich

Bogdanovich supported the latter position and when Land and Liberty broke in two, he joined the resulting splinter organization, the People's Will (Narodnaya Volya).


Georgy Sudeykin

In 1879, he exposed the entire Kiev branch of the Narodnaya Volya terrorist organization, and he was quickly promoted to the top of the Okhrana hierarchy.
