Reconciliation between the Druze and Christian communities came to fruition on August 8, 2001, when the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir made a historic visit to the Chouf and met with Druze leader, Jumblatt.
On April 29, 1993, he was appointed auxiliary bishop of the now vacant seat of Chonochora, then was consecrated as Bishop on September 4 of that year by Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir and the bishops Roland Aboujaoudé and Gabriel Toblé.

A solemn mass of requiem, in his home town of Kfarsghab was presided by the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, honored by the presence of the Minister of Information, M. Tarek Mitri representing the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Suleiman, the family and friends.
