3 unusual facts about Nepenthes sumatrana


Nepenthes sumatrana

Danser notes that the first two originate from the Minangkabau language, whereas the latter is an orthographical error for tahoel-tahoel, which is the common Batak name for Nepenthes.

sumatrana, Teijsmann 535, consists of female specimens, three of which are deposited at the Bogor Botanical Gardens (formerly the Herbarium of the Buitenzorg Botanic Gardens), as well as one at the National Herbarium of the Netherlands in Leiden and one at the herbarium of Utrecht University.

Both are deposited at the Herbarium of Andalas University in Padang, West Sumatra and appear to represent N. sumatrana.
