English touring teams then began visiting in 1886 including one in 1891 that featured the author of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

During the 1986 ICC Trophy, the ground played host to its only international match to date between Fiji and the Netherlands.

Goodwin continued in the Irish team until 1975, playing against Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Scotland, the USA and Wales.
