On 22 November 2003, 24-year old resident of the camp, Muhammad Suleiman Khalil Sarsur, was killed by Israeli security forces while attempting to infiltrate the Netzarim settlement.
The attack occurred close to the then Israeli settlement of Netzarim, at the main junction of Gaza Strip's north-south highway.
In 2005, three quarters of the former residents of Netzarim who were evicted from their village due to Israel's unilateral disengagement plan moved to temporary housing in Yevul while permanent housing is to be planned in the area.
