The village is located about 10 kilometers north east of Neumünster close to the Dosenmoor.
It also produces a refuse-derived fuel which is sent to a dedicated combustion facility to supply domestic heat and electricity to the town of Neumünster.
It is situated approximately 15 km southeast of Neumünster.
On February 1, 1946 he was arrested—after working for the British forces in the POW camp Neumünster—because of the persistency of Walter Freud, a grandchild of Sigmund Freud.
The line was part of an east-west axis, connecting Neustadt, Neumünster and Büsum.
At the same time, an important branch line was opened from Oster-Ohrstedt via Klosterkrug (now a station in the city of Schleswig) to Rendsburg, connecting to the Neumünster–Rendsburg line—opened on 18 September 1845 by the Rendsburg-Neumünster Railway Company (Rendsburg-Neumünsterschen Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, RNE)—which in turn connected with the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel line.
The village is also involved in the Schleswig-Holstein-Bahn, along the Neumünster–Heide rail line.
